Every Broadband connection will have a bad signal during a thunderstorm, especially if all your power lines are above the ground. When I lived in NYC, the powerlines were underground, but I'm in Georgia now and they run above the ground. When the lines get wet, the signal and the wires might get affected by the rain and wet air. Its not your computer, its the wiring of the equipment.

I have cable, and even cable gets impacted by a thunderstorm. So does my dishnetwork. Rain just spoils things for all of us.
