Poodle skirt or "clam diggers" (we know them now as Capri's)

If you're going the Poodle skirt route, make sure to were a sweater set and a really big scarf in your hair. If you have short hair, use the scarf like a headband. If longer hair, use it to tie your hair back into a ponytail.

If you're going the "clam-diggers" route, where a sleave less top with a cardigan (no patterns) sweater.
You can still do the scarf in the hair thing with that look too.

Or you can even wear jeans (plain no embrodery) cuffed with really big folds just bellow the knee.

Shoes...KEDS...always rely on KEDS the plain little white ones. Or Saddle Shoes.

Well my mom grew up in the 50's so I think your best bet would be to wear a poodle skirt, a sweater and bobby sox with saddle shoes. Put your hair up in a high ponytail also.

A 50's short dress, tight till the waist, draping around the bust, flared from the hip, the hem ending just above the knee. would look nice if it were white with red polka dots. Wear red high heels with straps that tie around the ankle and do your hair in a neat chignon.

The rage in the 50's were pony tails high on your head with a short scarf tied around them, a fitting short sleeve sweater and a poodle skirt. Bobby sox and oxfords completed the outfit. and girls wore their boyfriends rings on a chain around their neck.

You must wear a lot of bell bottoms and girlie floral shirts if you're looking for a western look . Have a plain chiffon sari with little bit of chamkis and have a tied up graceful hair-do with a raised hair-bun if you're for an Indian look. Also wear long ear rings to go with it and carry a short compact handbag. Long ear rings go well with both western and Indian look.

everbody does the poodle skirt thing. if you want to be comfortable, go with capri's a man's oxford, white ankle socks and a pair of those cheap white canvas tennis shoes.
i would go for '50s hollywood glam though.like the pin up girls. make-up and hair is important. really red lips, liquid eyeliner on top lid only, little blush to apples of cheeks, lots of powder.
