I'm a 25yr old man. I'm wanting to wrestle for fun, to get fit and to be able to grapple like a man

just a tip really, not an answer. in all seriousness, a lot of 'wrestling' clubs that you may be able to join are full of homosexual men, so if you're straight and don't want homosexual men touching you up, then you have to find out if it's actually a proper wrestling club. (i know it sounds like i'm a homophobe, but i actually am not - i was reading this wrestling forum online once (by mistake!) and i just remembered reading that a lot of the fan-base was gay)

No offence but most of you have no frickin clue how training to be a wrestler works, it is one million and one times harder than you think, so stop pretending you know stuff when you don't.

First off I would recommend applying to join a wrestling school, i'm not sure where your based at the moment but there's usually one or two in each area if your in the USA, probably the most famous school is Harley Races (pretty sure it's based in Missouri) some of his graduates actually go on to the WWE, one of them was actually Trevor Murdoch. So yeh it all starts with you going to a wrestling school.

Secondly I wouldn't go into a wrestling school with an attitude like you know everything, that you think wrestling will be easy and it's just playfighting. Becuase the instructors and the rest of the crew will most probably take notice of that and give you a few stiff shots now and then to get rid of your ego if u have one, but they will probably make it hard for you the first few sessions anyway to introduce you to the business.

And finally if your doing this just to get fit I'd really think twice about doing this since if you join a wrestling school, the amount of work they put you through makes even the fittest man a beat up wreck, they will work at you every single time and if you can get through that being unfit than I applaud you.

So basically if you want to succeed make sure first off and most importantly have respect for the business of wrestling, listen to the instructor and absorb every bit of information you can, becuase it will help you down the road, and once again make sure you have a acceptable level of fitness before you go in there otherwise you will be in the bathroom vomiting up your guts within the first 5 minutes.

hope this comes in handy and good luck if you decide to go through with it you have all my support

The best way to learn wrestling is by actually doing it. So I suggest you should look up a pro wrestling school in your area. Get the best information you can on it. Because some will rip you off. They will teach you how to wrestle. And alot of them have small companies you can wrestle for in front of a small crowd. It would be a good expirience.

Look up a local Amateur Wrestling club either by using the Internet or your local Telephone Directory.
I hope you will ignore the bigoted narrow minded idiots who refer to those clubs being full of Gay Men.There will be guys of all sexualities there how are you to know anyway, irrespective of that people go there to practise the sport. These other so called men on here are just insecure about their own sexuality & would probably love to do this themselves, but don't have the b******s to go.Go ahead give it a go you may end up regretting it in the future, good luck.

Try watching some on tv. First try WWE or RAW and then search for videos online like amateur wrestling and see what they do. There
are also many books you can read to learn how to do moves. Try Barnes and Nobles. And if you are really serious about wrestling there is even a wrestling school.

It depends where you live. In the US you need a wrestling license in some states.

You will also need to be professionally trained. If your in the UK, check out the GPW Gym at www.gpwrestling.org.uk

Well, I live in northern Ohio and we have a wrestling company called MCW. You pay $50 a month, and they will train you.. and you also get to put on shows and such. It's really cool. My boyfriend does it and says its amazing.
