Just enough, you don't want to overdo it.

If you wear a perfume a lot, then get someone else to judge how much you should put on as you lose your ability to smell it over time (your brain gets used to it and filters it out, so you end up being able to smell it a lot less than those around you). I think that people should be able to smell your perfume when they come up quite close to you (maybe a metre or less), not just when they walk into the same room as you. That should make people who like your perfume want to be near you. Also, it won't affect asthmatics as much (many of whom start wheezing or coughing if they're around strong smells).

If you use a little of the expensive stuff, it will last longer (and probably smell nicer too). The cheap stuff often stinks for an hour or two then disappears however much you put on, the expensive stuff will last much longer even if you don't put much on. A drop or two on your wrists if the bottle doesn't have a spray attachment is good. If it's a spray, then you can spray it into the air and walk though the falling mist.

This is what I do.

I spray one wrist then the other (do not rub together as the perfume will bruise) then I spray behind each knee and
that's it. Perfume rises with the heat of your body and through
your pulse points.

I don't spray behind the ears and it doesn't seem necessary
and is overpowering to people with sinus conditions.

I wear perfume everyday and it is like my signature -
It's who I am

Use your own nose to tell you how much - if you can clearly smell it, without having to sniff, then that's fine.

If you feel overwhelmed, then you've put too much on!
