By everything, what do you mean? I look at things this way. I give you a lot of money "foreign aide" and by golly there is going to be something in return for me, or at least I am going to monitor it. You want government aid, expect to be touched by the hands of the government. So if you don't want any part of the government, support yourself, expect nothing from your government, follow all the laws, pay your taxes and there shouldn't be a problem. But know that you won't have anyone to blame if you fail.

Because you gave away your power piece by piece, law by law.

I bet there is hardly anyone here who knows what issues are coming before the legislature, federal and state when they are in session.

That's how you lose!

Another way is they pass all these laws which many have never read, and it ends up in the department that is to enforce it.

Here's the rub! They do their OWN interpretation of the law and write Rules, which you don't even know about, that carry the weight of law.

Some are just criminal and leave little room for interpretation until it gets to the Supreme Court, or Circuit Appeals Court

Because the federal government has overstepped its bounds. Our founding fathers expected the federal government to be involved in very little, but the more in got its "hands" into everything, the more power it acquired.
Now the government's tentacles reach into every aspect of our citizenry's life, including marriage; divorce; sex; religion; death; money; education and birth control - all personal issues in which the government has nothing in it buts its nose.
Now the Bush administration wants to restrict more personal freedoms, such as freedom of the press, free speech, and freedom of expression (you no longer can protest at military funerals, can't burn an American flag, and aren't allowed to demonstrate within so many yards of a Bush appearance).

The more power the government holds, the more control it has over its citizenry. Thomas Jefferson once said: "The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants". That time is overdue. It's time for a second American Revolution...time for compatriots to take this country out of the hands of the wicked politicians and put "We the People" back in power.

But that won't happen until Americans get off the couch, put down the remote, and take to the streets, armed for rebellion.
And as long as the government wields control, it can continue to distract us using a fear tactic as its best weapon: fear of "terrrorists" (if you want to live in a free society, you have to accept risks); fear of an "evil empire"; fear of those who practice different religions, have different skin colors, speak different languages, and advocate different politics.

Meanwhile, most Americans are more concerned with maxxed-out credit cards; $3.00-a-gallon fuel for their $60,000 SUVs; "low prices - everyday" for all the junk we don't need from WalMart; Britney Spears' new baby; or the latest rankings of our favorite baseball team. All that will change when China - to whom America owes hundreds of billions of dollars - decides the U.S.A. has 'maxxed' out ITS own credit card, and now China wants our oil, our natural resources, and our stockpiles for its own citizens. When that happens, our grandchildren and great-grandchildren will never get to enjoy the quality of life we enjoy today - all because of government's arrogance, Americans' apathy, and the avarice of our society. -RKO-

Because the more they get their hands into everything, the more power and control they have over your life.

Scary but true.
