Takashi Miike's AUDITION. It's like going on a trip, because the film sort of carries you along slowwwly and sweetly until you're hit in the face with the final 15 minutes. That final torture scene is just priceless - horror at its absolute best. Japanese directors & screenwriters are the true kings (and queens!) of horror.

No! Hostel was terrible, it was just gruesome and that was the shock factor, coz the plot was terrible!

My 2 favourites hav gotta be jeepers creepers (1 & 2)
and DEFINATELY Texas chansaw massacre. I didn't think it would be but, just watch it and u'll see...

Also saw, i agree that they're good films, very clever.

Horrors make me laugh, especially SAW. I think they actually intended it to be a comedy. Didn't laugh so hard with the Ring, though, so I'd say that is the better one. And the new Texas Chainsaw Massacre

silent Hill was a good one. But not from recent past- Ring 1 was the best horror film I watched.

I loved Dawn of the dead (2004 version). For me it's the best one--scary and funny and different than others.

Hate Saws although the first one has a cool ending.

I would forget... the Japanese Grudge (part 2) is also great.

If you have not seen CREEP please do this will scare you prope. This beats all of the above answers hands down.i have only managed to sit through this film once and it really did my head in both visually scary and messing your head in at the same time, this film is not for the weak minded because you will never ever want to be stranded alone at a train station ever.
