In hindi (not hindu) we say "namaste" or "pranaam" when we want to greet anyone.

'Hello' in Malay should be 'Halo' (because some words in Malay are similar to English ;D ) or you can say the famous 'Apa khabar?', which means 'How are you?' in Malay.
I know no Hindu, sorry.

In hindi u can say 'Pranaam' or 'Namaste'. If u want to be more creative, just say Salaam Namaste.

if you're greeting a muslim - Assalamualaikum
if you greet someone younger or around your age - Hai, Helo , Apa khabar (how are you)
if you greet someone older - Selamat pagi (morning), tengahari (afternoon), petang (evening), malam (night), or Selamat sejahtera (peace be upon you)
