I don't think they really hold back... Let's just say that they do what they believe will be enough to get the result. (which is why they sometimes get jumped early on !)
Even their manager says he isn't coaching them, he just facilitates talent. In other words - "here's a ball, go kick it into that net"
That mindset will get you past lesser teams but I think they will really struggle from now. Someone (or 2) really needs to step and make this tournament theirs, like Ronaldo did in France... and I can't see anyone doing that yet.

It's like as they are hiding in shadows. They played 4 matches, no one of them was nearly impressive as ARG-SRC, SWE-ENG, ITA-GHA, FRA-SPA were.
I need to points it out they never seems in trouble.
Possible answers are:
1. As you say, 'they're doing just enough'. They're simply too tough for these opponents, so why spend energies when next match will be more difficult?
I don't think this should be the right answer. You can't easily control a match if you are winning 1-0 or 2-0.
2. All South Americans teams like to play at slow tempo controlling the game. Argentinian are real master. Brazilian too, but they have an issue: they MUST play in attacking way. Their supporter and the whole world watching them on TV needs this attitude. Anyway, attacking is dangerous, and Brazil defenders haven't impress me so much. And they haven't shower great plays.
So, i guess Brazil is seriously unbalanced. Playing with Kaka, Ronaldinho, Adriano, Ronaldo can be impressive, but you need to give your best effort only when the match needs so. I think they're weak in defense, they perfectly know this, and their are really willing to slow the tempo to avoid danger from opponent fast break attacks. They've tactical orders from coach, all forward must hold their position in the field, especially Kaka and Ronaldinho. I can't explain why they don't change tactics, it could be supporter pressure. But I'm pretty sure something is going to change in the next match.

No team would hold back on purpose they just have n't had a good 90 mins,They have had 10 or 20 minute periods when they have looked Brazilian(samba/Joga bonita) if you know what i mean!
Their so could big players have not yet gelled most of them have produced indivual magic such as Kaka, Ronaldo, Ze roberto but when the Brazilian combination of players get on the same wave length they could be unbeatable!
Ronaldinho yet to shine
In a great team no one should shine!

Nope not this time... cos they won't defeat French... yes... though French performance in 06 (except with spain) is very poor... they are effective against Brassilians... yea counter like.. think English gonna win... cos they're lucky to meet portugese... since portugals have no any fine player left...

No. That's all they have. They don't play well or have extraordinary players. They just know how to win.
