Sorry to hear that you are having problems sleeping at night. Sounds to me that you are having a problem with an over active mind. Here is a couple of solutions. You can try cutting back on the amount of caffeine that you have during the day. I know that alot of people drink coffee, tea, or soda (pop, cola, etc.). All of these things contain a pretty good amount of caffeine. Give yourself a cut off time during the day or early evening where you don't drink any of these beverages. Another thing that you can try is take a hot bath and just soak and relax. If you have tried this and it doesn't seem to work then try this. There is an over the counter dietary supplement that you can take called Melatonin. It helps to bring things into balance. Your brain naturally produces this as it goes into sleep mode. However, you can not produce enough. It will take some time for it to build up into your system and the good news is that it is not very expensive to purchase and it is 100% vegetarian. I know that my boyfriend who suffers from the same problem takes it and it works for him.

Relax. Go to bed 1/2 hour before you "need" to. Exercise lightly. Have a soothing warm bath. Unwind with a fluff book or newsrag (no work manuals etc). NO TV or Computer 1/2 prior to bed and try either relaxing music or run a fan (Droning noise)
Don't drink ANY caffeinated or SUGARED drinks hours before bed. Don't drink alcohol, it may help to start, but the longer term problems are no good.
No lights in your room. This means no red or green LEDs from stereos, TVs Computers etc) either.

Mom or grandma was right, A glass of warm low fat milk may do wonders. (Not Chocolate milk!!!)

i occaisionally have this problem. It is usually easier after a few drinks and a good getting off, but without that, i buy sleeping pills. Sleep aid, usually tylenol p.m. or something similar. I use the pain relief plus sleep aid. works like a charm.

Run really fast head first into a brick wall. That will make you sleep for a solid few hours.

Relaxing thoughts. Try this......Think of being at a nice beach, laying in a hammock in the shade...palm trees swaying in the breeze, the sound of the ocean waves coming to shore...your favorite drink on a table nearby.................
