Hmm... maybe you should go ask a mechanic.
Ah... but this mechanic will most likely demean and berate you.
What a conundrum. Well, I suppose the kind help of some of the Yahoo Answers! OCD people might do the trick.
If you end up going to the mechanic anyway, I would suggest leaving out the part of the story where you asked an online community of freaks how to fix your car.
Maybe you could substitute that section with: "Then I got some ice cream and, while standing in line, I heard a conversation that two guys were having about cars..."
Perhaps that will help.
Well, probably not.

First thing to check is for a bad earth led this is done best by getting a set of jump leads and using one to take a direct feed from the negative battery terminal and connnecting to a corrosive/piant free part of the engine. If starter still just clicks then the solinoid is firing but starter faulty and will need replaced!

Your battery might still have run down if your alternator is wasted. Or you could have a bad starter. Bang your starter with a hammer a couple of good times and it might make it start once or twice but you'll need to replace whichever part is bad. The good news is, if the hammer trick works you can replace the starter yourself with a decent set of tools. If it's the alternator you'll have to run a circuit test on it. Alternator problems are best left to a mechanic who can run a diagnostic on it.

Well it would be helpful to know the year of your auto, the make, the model, approximate mileage. however with out that information I would say that it sounds like it is your solenoid on your starter, although there are many possibility's.
Best advice is take your auto to a professional mechanic who can examine the problem first hand, any suggestions here are only speculation.

You've flooded your engine. Do not pump your gas. Just let it set for a little bit and then it should start. As a matter of fact, Wait until tomorrow and it should work perfedtly.
