federal type like in the US. it is best because what we have now, all the improvements went to manila. if we have a federal republic type, different islands will have their own mini-government, their own laws, etc. senate should be elected per region, so everybody have a voice, compared to now that most senators come from manila.

research more on federal type on wikipedia-united states

I feel that only a dictatorship will work for the Philippines. To improve the living and social conditions of the average Filipino. There is no experience with a real democracy in the Philippines. A government by thieves, Kleptocracy has been in effect since independence. These people will never turn over power to the people through peaceful elections.
Hopefully by means of a military coup the powerful familes will be removed from power and eventually a democracy may evlove. However, at best this will take twenty years.

The Philippines has always been an oligarchy pretending to be a democracy. The 100 or is it 300 rich families rule the country and in every election which they buy by paying the poor (ignorant) people for their votes they just play musical chairs with different elected positions.
Maybe a miracle will happen and one of the rich families who come to power will see how immoral this is and actually educate the people, give them meaningful employment and a stake in the country . Then maybe the democracy they claim they have will be a real true government for them -- a democracy.

Until then Filipinos will go to church, be nice , be passive, do nothing and accept their terrible fate with a big smile

I think that the way Pres. Marcos used to manage the country was a very productive way to do it, but unfortunately he became corrupt after that and thats when the economy of the country fell down because of all the money he stole.
An example of how powerful the Philippines was during Marcos' time is the exchange rate from Pesos to dollars at the time, which was 2 pesos: 1 dollar, also the airforce the Philippines had was one of the best in the world since it was aided by U.S.
Thats why i think the Philippines needs another president like Marcos, but it has to be someone who will not become corrupt.
good luck.

i think Philippines is a great country but i think it should be a parliamentary government like waht they're arguing about right now it should be parliamentary because Gloria Arroyo is such a horrible president to the country, Our government is so selfish that they cant even help some of the people that are below poverty line they should get a person who is a great leader. We actually dont need do change our government we just need to change the people who run it . Good Luck on your Social Studies research...

Parliamentary. How much do you think a senator spends for an election? How much for a vice president and president?
Since all positions are elected nationwide. It is easy to say that at least 100 million pesos. 24 senators + vice prsident + president dats at least 2.8 biliion pesos. How will they recover the money spent considering that the three positions salary is less than 50 thousand pesos a month? To elect a congressman you spend only less than 5 million pesos since its by district and there is a possibility to be a prime minister. Therefore, parliamentary is better with this issue.
