off their bits? That would be equality- as many people want to do it to the *handful* of men who do it.

Just reverse the question and ask it about men. But does it now seem horrific now that equality's involved? So equality's horrific? Well get used to it- there's loads more coming- as the men's movement refuse to take part in a sexist society.

A child is more likely to get struck by lightening that abducted by a stranger.

Too True my friend, im becomign very worried about the 'Common ense' agenda in politics...The public are reactionary, violent and decidedly intolerant of everyoen and everything. Justice needs to be cold and civilised, so thigns liek this never happen

To Eden, look up the Independant and Guardian paper websites, plus the BBC. The National office of Statistics is likely to carry this kind of thing as well. Women killers are rarely portrayed in papers because they are often seen in a more sympathetic light. Male killers sell papers, women killers are often seen as a step too far
P.S. I've got a Media degree to back that one up :P

If you're going to quote statistics, then back them up with some links we can read. I don't believe for one moment that mothers commit the vast majority of serious child abuse and murder, that;s why when you do hear about a woman doing these things it takes front page news, because it's much less common.
As for the mens movement refusing to take part in a sexist society ... boo hoo. Look how it was for females until the seventies, and how many of us even now, work full time, and do the bulk of the chores in the home.
And it's not always abduction by 'strangers' that leads to child abuse or rape or murder. Many times the abuser is known to the child.

Vast majority????What are you calling abuse a spanking? Yes as far as I'm concerned if a mother kills her child she doesn't need a womb any more. The majority of child molesters will never stop that behavior so people react with what they think will stop them. Life with no parole ever will work fine I would think. By the way the VAST majority of child molesters are MEN.
