We release a lot of heat through the head, which is why a good hat is so effective in the winter.

If you're concerned, take her to the doctor just in case. But don't panic. :)

I don't know the cause but my son's was the same way. My mom would sometimes refer to him as "a little hothead" Whenever I'd feel the center of his forehead (to check for fever) it would be fine, but the rest of his head was pretty hot. He's 1 1/2 now and it's not as dramatic a difference anymore.

If you can think of it, ask your pediatrician just so you can know the official reasons. I'm guessing it's just that we lose heat from our heads though.

When a baby is born, there are 3 plates in their head. These plates take time to fuse together. In the mean time this is the way a baby can release excess body tempreture. Where the plates meet is the easeist place for the heat to excape.

Most body heat is lost through the top of your head. If you're worried call your pediatrician.
