let the weight be x kg
now x/4 kg is left

so acc. to ur question

x-x/4 = 3

or 3x/4=3
or 3x=12
or x=4
therefore the required weight is 4 kg

4kg, if 4kg is split into quarters, it would be 1kg each, if one quarter is taken away then it is taking away 1kg, 4-1=3kg

3 x 1.25 = 3.75

EDIT>>> didn't anyone go to 4th grade math? you lose 25%, so you want 25% more. so 1 + .25 = 1.25. (3 x 1.25 = 3.75)
