all people are not created equal some are cleaver some are stupid, some are strong others weak etc. it is human nature to ask where we as individuals fit in. also it helps to be able to predict the behaviour and desisions another person may make so we look for patterns. e.g. when getting cash out of an atm we don't expect to get mugged by a 90 yearold woman behind us but will be more careful if its a black guy even though the chances are small.

No it is not superficial. It originates in survival instinct. Mothers will feed and defend their own before all else. Tribes defend their resources etc.
Practically all discrimination has this route.
Thankfully as mankind develops we are finding ways of recognising descrimination and dealing with. A long way to go yet but there is hope!

I think as long as there is a clear delineation between the "haves" and the "have nots"...
and as long as the "have-nots" can wave a flag and cry foul "descrimination and violation of my civil liberties"...
and the "haves" possess laws that favor the "have-nots" so that the "have-nots" don't really have to work or try to be better educated, or peacable, or law-abiding...
then there will always be descrimination ...

Because whites want to be over everything. They , not all, have 4-gotten that slavery is over. Here in Shreveport, they still have the confederate flag on the Court House. I think that's sad. Many leaders have tried to have it removed, but they are told that it represents history.
