Microsoft is big on this. They've been lobbying Congress for years to allow more guest high-tech workers in. They claim there is a shortage of American programmers, but I expect the real reason is they can pay immigrants a lot less and make them work on contract so they don't get stock options and other fabulous benefits.

I also know IBM brought in a bunch of East Indians to configure and install SAP at my company.

There is a company out of Australia that puts College grads on a program that sends them to the U.S to work in their fields and they go from place to place. It is rewarding for them until the find what they are suitable in living where they want too.

Why would a US company bring them here to work? For the most part, it is cheaper to keep them in the country they are in...tax and health benefits probably rule there!
