No you can't 'knit' yourself to victory, you can't kick a football to victory either, nor can you shout your way to victory. Not all women engage in stereotypically feminine pursuits, not all men engage in stereotypically masculine activities.
A person is a person. The best person for the job should be chosen. It's worth highlighting that not all army jobs involve fighting on the front line, cooks, telephonists and code crackers all have their role in an army. Also jobs which are there for the best candidate, male or female.
I do believe that male and female soldiers should be segreagated in order to prevent either sex being distracted by the presence of the opposite sex. But there are many women, very capable of being soldiers. Why should chauvenism stand in the way of their patriotism and ability?

Im female, and i cant knit anything!
So what your trying to put across is that the army is a mans thing, women arent good enough??!
OK, so men are stronger in muscle....but face it, thats the only advantage you have!! Us women on the other hand could win a war easier than you men....
What we have that you lack ??
BRAINS!!
We're a lot more intelligent than you, we are more organised than you, and our hidden weapon is SEX!
When all else fails...we use sex against you-which most of the time works well enough!
So, sorry...i agree that woman should be allowed in the army cos it seems that we can offer a lot more towards winning than what you can offer!!

So long as there are armies, women should be able to join. They can fight as well as any men and what they might lach in physical ability, they'll make up for in intelligence. The Amazones were once a greater fighting force than the Spartan army, so I find the question somewhat petulant and sexist.
Mind you, the best solution would be to dissolve any army - people will always drink, fight and have sex when push comes to shove, but it's sad some do so professionally.

Yes women should be allowed into the army. When there is a point saying that women are equal in status with the men and are in the same postions with all the male counter parts then why should the army be left alone.

Not all women can "knit" -- and some are physically more stronger then some men. If I wear in war -- I'd be much more concerned that a smart, quick thinker and sharp shooter had my back then a man without effective fighting skills. If their trained properly who cares!

While your question is quite sexist in the second part, i am not in favour of women in the army for the following reasons-
- physically they cannot carry as much kit as your male soldier
- if they are captured the first type of torture they would endure is more than likely rape, which can affect them for their whole lives
- and thirdly, i have yet to meet a woman who doesn't cringe at the thought of living without their amenities, i.e. electrical goods, toiletries etc.

In certain job capacities. I was active duty for 6 years, and never saw a woman who could handle any of the combat positions. They just do not have the upper body strength to be successful. Other than that they can sacrifice themselves just as well as men.

Women bring different mindsets and abilities into the armed forces. They also bring a fresh perspective to the table. All of these are positive things to introduce into any organisation and greatly benefits the Armed Forces.
