I have moved myself and my family 10 times in the last 14 years. The best way is to pay for the movers to pack everything and unpack. Take out insurance and go out for the day to leave them to it.
Stress free.

When I moved to Sussex from London back in 1983, not only did I move house but I started a new job, had a new baby ( 2 weeks old ) and moved to a totally unfamiliar place and almost a new culture. That made me very, very depressed. Looking back on it I now realise that it was all of the major stress factors rolled into one. Now, some 23 years later, I realise that the change was for the better in many ways but at the time it seemed like I had walked into a pit of depression and stress. My advice to you therefore is to regard this as a move to the rest of your life ....... get excited about it, think ahead to all of the new things that it will involve, but most of all understand that moving house affects just about everybody in some way and you are no different. Of course we miss the old house, the old life, the old neighbours ... but at one time they were all complete unknowns to you as well ..... understand that and build up your new move by looking forward and not looking back ..... even people that you have never met before can so easily become new best friends and you will learn to love your new surroundings. If familiarity breeds contempt, your new home should be a breath of fresh air! Good luck .... have a great move!

Make a good planning and make sure you don't forget anything. Consult people that you may want to work in your house after the move (installation of kitchen, bathroom etc) so you can put them in the planning as well. This should take away some stress.
Don't move yourself, get movers to do it. They will also take apart furniture and put it back together again (if necesary). They can also if you want to pack and unpack. I have moved twice in the last 7 years to a newly built house and I like to keep that last bit in my own hands, but if it gives you stress, let them do it.
Take into consideration that things can go wrong. In my case the kitchen was not complete and it took the guy two days longer as expected which caused problems because by that time I had planned the laying of the floor and hanging of curtains.
Also take time enough off from work to plan and coordinate and do nice things with the family before and after (zoo, town trips)
Don't worry too much, it's stressful for everyone. You're not alone.

I am getting t ready to move also. It a process of saying goodbye to all that is familiar, but I keep focused on the new place. Also set goals for each day so that I can see the progress being made.
