I am not an anime fan but, I want to understand what it is about .

OMG! That's like my favortie anime/manga of all time!!!! Except for the ending! Stupid pairing! Okay well there is a Sohma family and they are cursed with the vengeful spirits of the chinese zodiac. When they are hugged by the opposite sex they transform to their zodiac animals. There are 12 cursed members becuz the cat is also included but he is left out. Akito is their "god" he/she bears the core of the curse. They have no special abitlies or powers 'cept they can communicate with their animals. Tohru Honda is a girl who stumbled upon their lives and changed them forever. Her mother was hit by a car and her father died when she was little. She went to live with her grandpa and then he decided to get the house remodeled so he told her to go stay with a friend. Being the kind hearted person she was she didn't want to bother either of her friends so she decided to live in a tent which was on Sohma property. So when she was walking to school she came across the Sohma house. Interested in the zodiac figurines she stopped at the house to be greeted by a 27 year old man named Shigure. She finds out that this house belongs to the prince of the school Yuki Sohma! (i ♥ Yuki) After school she goes to work. When she walked home she was getting a fever. Shigure and Yuki found her in the tent and invited her to stay with them. The next day when Yuki was bringing her to her room a orange haired boy breaks through the ceiling and challenges Yuki. She slips on a chunk of wood and hugs the boy who turned into the cat. she started panicing and a piece of wood fell onto her head and she fell against Yuki and Shigure who turned into a dog and a rat. (Yuki is rat, Shigure is the dog). They explain the curse to her and she gets to stay at the Sohma house. Kyo is forced to stay too. This is the first time their secret has gotten out to the outside. Yuki and Kyo are enemies and fight constantly. Kyo can NEVER beat Yuki and always ends up thrown out the wall or something. Soon she meets a girl named Kagura who seems shy and sweet. When she sees Kyo though she went crazy and beats him up. Later its reveled that Kagura is in "love" with Kyo and is obsessed with him. She is the boar. When her grandpa's remodeling is done she goes home. Yuki and Kyo realize how much they miss her and go retrieve her. So she becomes a permanet guest in the Sohma house. Throughout the series she meets all the zodiac members and helps them one by one. want spoilers? Tell me! don't go to wikipedia cuz if you don't want spoliers! that's about the whole first book!

It's about a family that is cursed with the spirits of the animals of the Zodiac, and the cat.
The curse is that when hugged by a member of the opposite sex, that person will turn into their animal form. Luckily, the family curse is only limited to the 13 people cursed with the spirits, and the one whom they refer to as God/the leader of the family.

Tohru is a girl who's had it pretty rough when she meets up with the Sohmas. She is actually asked to live in the house with the dog and the rat. Then, the cat shows up, their secret is exposed and now Tohru is keeping their secret while still going to school and interacting with the other Zodiac members.

There is also some romance, heartache, and basically a little something that everone tends to enjoy.

That's the basic concept of the show, every character has their own personal backstory, and the manga is defferent from the anime. The anime is actually short a few characters, and there has been some gender confusion.

Fruits Basket follows the life of high school student Tohru Honda, recently orphaned when her mother is killed in a car crash. When we first meet her, she has had to temporarily leave her paternal grandfather's house (as her grandfather's family is moving in, and he needs to remodel) and, unwilling to impose on her friends, is living in a tent in the woods and holding down a job to support herself. Despite suffering many hardships, Tohru remains cheerful and optimistic.

One day, Tohru comes upon a house in the woods which is the home of some young men from the Sohma family, including Yuki Sohma, an admired and worshipped yet aloof boy from her school. Feeling sorry for her, and desperate to end their take-out eating habits and filthy living conditions, the Sohmas offer her their spare room in exchange for cooking and housework. When her tent is buried that night in a landslide, she has no option but to accept.

Tohru soon discovers the Sohma family's secret, and the reason why Yuki is so private and taciturn: many members of the family are possessed by the animal spirits of the Chinese Zodiac ("Jyūnishi" in Japanese), and transform into that animal when hugged by the opposite gender or when they are under a huge amount of stress. When she promises to keep their secret, the Sohmas allow Tohru to keep her memories rather than hypnotically erasing them, a fate that has previously befallen almost all who have found them out.

The story follows the lives of Tohru and the Sohma family, as they deal with each other and a society where neither quite fit in.

it was an anime about a family (sohma family that is) and a girl named tohru honda that had their lives connected. tohru goes to the same school as kyo sohma and yuki sohma goes into. There is also shigure and the head of the sohma family wherein all of it's members are afraid of, akito... neither they know that tohru had lost her mother from a car accident and she had to accidentally live with the sohma's from then on..

right now i watching the anime called fusigi-yugi its a medevil anime

its about a red haired girl and her blond friend going to a libary and finding this odd book

as they pick it up to read it some one funny happens
a vortex opens and they get sucked into the book!
they have seem to have been sucked into another dimension in the book
during the chaos they get separated
the red haired girl is still traped in the book
her blondy friend soon trys to come back to save her but ends up at the dark side
