Why are Chinese and Asians so racist towards blacks?

I have been in China for a little over a year. I'm a teacher. I've noticed that the Chinese and other asian races are extremely racist towards blacks, especially when it comes to hiring for teaching. Why?

I am a teacher here in China. My reputation is good. I have tried to find several jobs teaching. I keep getting rejected. The main reason. They say I am too black. They want a white person to teach. THIS IS IN A UNIVERSITY. I have all of the credentials and then some. Isn't this racism? Why are Asians, and since I am living in China, the CHINESE so racist?

Most would say stereotypical prejudices but I think it is much deeper than that. Like Europe if you read old Myths and stories they always describe demons and dark spirits and beings with black skins. This subtle cultural influences causes many asians to have ill feelings towards anything dark and be the source of the negative impressions.

Asia has a skin prejudices towards other asians. If you got lighter skinned you are more likely to be hired cause culturally it is accepted that lighter skinned are smarter and better.

So it's not against African descended folks, it's just about any dark skinned person. A Korean is more likely to be hired in Japan than a Malay, Or in China they would prefer hiring a Japanese over a Cambodian etc....

Wow, Chinese and Asians? Really? And to think all my life I have thought that the Chinese were Asians. Thank you for enlightening me in the depth of life. Anyways, it doesn't matter where you are from. Anyone can be racist. Maybe where you are from, you may have a harder time getting a job as where I am from, a group of people bash and vandalize an Asian's, my sister's friend's car and spray paint racism on it (and get away with it) However, where I am from is not always so bad because the school that I went to, somebody wrote on the bathroom door, "Go back to Africa," another person posted it, and now they are on the lookout for whoever did it.

I'm sorry about how you have been treated but just reading you're question and some of the answers offended me deeply. I am filipino meaning I am asian and I am proud. I have grown up in nz and 1 of my bestfriends is 1/2 african

It's offending beacause you cant just group the chinese and "other asian races". Sure some people of many
OTHERraces as well as asian may be racist towards black people which is stupid because it is giving into stereotypes and prejudice but not every single asian person in the world is. And asian people do not hate foreigners. You are a teacher you should know how to treat people. dont group them! Everyone is like a seperate different person with different beliefs in stuff. And as for why SOME chinese or asian people are racist towards black people it is probably how black people are portrayed, stereotyped, and judged in the media (which is unfair and stupid) and that happens everywhere.

hey I'm asian and I think we're not so racist towards blacks. Sorry, I dont mean to be rude or anything, but I think racism exists everywhere, not only in China. How can you say that the chinese and other asian races are extremely racist towards blacks? In my opinion, not all chinese are like that. Maybe the chinese you know are a bit annoying.

They are??! well that sucks..i wanted to go 2 China or Japan after i graduated from high school- I know there are racists everywhere but i thought they'd be more accepting- i grew up in a school with many different races...asian dominating- If i end up going people wont throw anything at me right... it's not majority right?I know it's impossible for everyone in a race to be racist- but i didn't know about that

One reason that many Chinese don't care fore blacks is that, if they went to University, they most likely shared a dorm room with five other students. However, many black Africans are accepted to study at Chinese Universities and as Foreign guests, and they are given privilaged treatment including sit-down toilets (squat toilets were the norm until recently), fewer roomates, and seperate dining facilities. So, institutions breed jealousy among some Chinese.

I think racism is everywhere and in every race. If a white person goes into the deep hood the blacks will want to attack and "kill" them. Indians (majority) don't marry out of their race and so are some (majority) Chines, White people (some) are still racist until today. If you feel discrminated against in a certain community then move somewhere were discrimination against race isn't so high and you feel comfortable around. I'm afraid racism is something that will never die out no matter how much one tries or complains.

I read in a Tom Clancy once that orientals are the most racist people in the world...and after talking to some, I cant help but agree to some extent.......but you cant paint them all with the same brush. I guess, it's just that they are a closed society that doesn't trust foreigners, and black people look so unfamiliar to them.......the media portraying blacks as thugs probably doesnt help either.

Racists exist everywhere.its so because we have been conditioned to feel that white is superior.In asia it is more so cause most countries were colonies under the British rule.They ruled over most nations and hence the colonised countries found them, their colour and mannerisms superior than their own.Also fairness is associated with beauty in most countries whereas the fairer ppl go to beaches and spend hours tanning themselves.Its a major misconception about white being superior but its always been there.However, its only a lack of melanin that is there and nothing else.God made all human beings equal in his eyes and man has forgotten that.

Because the Chinese know very little about the Blacks. They hardly come into any contacts with Blacks. In addition, the media that were exposed to them, they always seen White people and caucasians. Give them time and education, they will slowly open up their minds.
