I think you're quite ambitious to go for a 450' one - but yes, it is possible to overome a phobia by facing it. Firstly, you do not have a phobia - otherwise you would not have been on the Eye!! You probably suffer from vertigo up to a point - though that makes you feel giddy and nauseous! The main thing is to look straight at the person who is standing in front of you at the top. Don't look down, don't look sideways - just look straight ahead and relax as much as you possibly can. These people are very experienced and know how to deal with this very common fear - so try and enjoy the experience - it really is quite an amazing feeling! Good luck!!

As long as you are with competent people, I am sure you will do it and achieve it. Yes I believe by overcoming your fear you will be proud of your achievements .. you have already started with the Empire State building. Stand tall and push that fear away. But make sure you don't have vertigo (inner ear stuff).
I congratulate you on overcoming the heights of Empire state bld.
Good luck and believe in yourself always.

Kill or cure. Sure to work. You will feel terrified at the top and ecstatic at the bottom, and you'll want to do it again, and again, and again.
I remember my first abseil, nowhere near as far but it was cold and my hands were cramping from holding the rope so tight. Ther's no better feeling that jumping away from the rockface and letting the rope run through your fingers as you drop down and back towards the rockface (maybe not on your first go though,eh!).
Come back afterwards and ask us why we haven't done it too!

DO IT!!!. It will either kill or cure you. People are right when they say leaning back is the hardest part. You just have to trust your instructors and once you have done it once you will want to do it again and it will only get easier. Personally i would have started on a smaller one first maybe on a wall at a climbing centre and then worked up. Good on you for doing it though, is it for charity and if so is there a website i can sponsor you from?.

It's the leaning backwards over the edge that is the bad bit, after that it's easy as long as you don't look down. Just try to imagine you're going to sit down on a nice comfy chair rather than hanging over 450ft of nothingness.

Excellent idea, it is allways best to face your fears so that you can learn to overcome them, when I was younger I was terrified of heights, then I go and get a job working at very precarious heights.
You will still be scared at first, but this is a good thing, it keeps you safe.
Enjoy yourself, wish I was joining you:)

Don't worry about falling, it doesn't hurt it's landing that you need to worry about.
Seriously though just don't look down it will be over in minutes and doing something that scares you once a day is good for the heart, true honestly!
