The extra dollar was lost by the janitor at the poker game to whoever won that hand.

OMG is this still knocking around.... There is no extra dollar, the hotel manager has $25, the janitor has $2 and the business men have $3 change..... therefore $30..... by mixing the janitors $2 with $9 paid by each man (and not subtracting it from the $27 to get the $25 paid to the hotel) this riddle just shows

A nice riddle.
The guys didnt pay $9 each for the room.

At first, they shelled out $10 each but each got back $1.
So they only shelled out $9 each, making a total of $27.
Again, of the $30 to begin with, they got back $3, they
gave out $27. Out of the $27, $25 was paid for the room,
$2 was the janitor's tip. There was no missing dollar.

Actually they each paid 25/3 or $8.33 for the room and
each tipped the janitor 2/3 or $0.66.

Well, again... There was $30 at the start, $3 were returned so
they only paid $27. And $2 were kept by the janitor, so there
was a missing dollar. Isn't there ?
Hehehe. This is an old one. It is good to hear it again. Thanks.

Each man paid 9 dollars for the room which included the 2 dollars for the janitor...and that comes out to 27 dollars... now they had 3 dollars each split the 3 dollars which is one dollar each... that ='s 30 bucks

there is no extra money..

by the way if there is a hotel out there for 25 bucks let me know..lol

They each paid $9, or $27 for a $25 room, and the janitor keep the extra $2

$9 x 3 = $27
$27 - ($30 - $5 ) = $2 dollars (janitor pocketed)
so no extra dollar XD

else, read the riddle backwards.....
+($1x3) (wad janitors gave them each) +$2 (janitors pocket = /) +$25(room price after discount) = $30
