A death penalty question. Who amongst you could end another person's life? Before you answer this, take some time to think about living with your decision. This person never committed a crime against you or any of your loved ones and you have no connection to the crime. You are only the executioner. I do not think it is an easy thing to do. Maybe you do. Understand you have to live with your action for the rest of your life - every time you close you eyes you will see the moment of that individuals death - you will never be able to change what you have done. I believe that if you are truely an advocate of the death penalty then you have to be able to 'do the job' yourself. If you are a Christian - as I am - can you ever justify murder?

Thank you for reading. Now have your say.

Piggrumpy - this statement - This person never committed a crime against you or any of your loved ones and you have no connection to the crime. You are only the executioner. - was to eliminate people wfo would answer the question by saying they could if the crime was committed against a member of their family. Passion can allow you to do many things you would not ordinarily consider.

Rexski - I am not standing up for anyone. I'm asking an ethical question on whether you could excute someone with no emotion.

YES, I would have no problem with this. What makes you think that every time I close my eyes I will see the moment of this persons death. Have you actually done this before? If not then how would you know? BUT lets say this is an accurate statement. I could live with myself knowing that I took a bad person and put an end to a potential future problem. And by your comment about this person never never committed a crime against my family. I take this to mean his being bad is not a problem UNLESS of course he decides to rape you or your sister. OR your brother. Then and only then would you be concerned. OK, Lets say he is a pedophile, He decides he is going to do your 6 years old daughter,. You don't have a problem with this and you don't believe he needs to be put to death. OH, NO, lets give him a life sentence where he will never hurt anyone again. Right? WRONG. Why should my tax dollars support you good hearted NO DEATH stance. But to be more realistic they wouldn't be shot. They would get lethal injection. AND YES I WOULD inject him too.

"In all probability, a person sentenced to death in the U.S. (my location) is guilty as charged." That statement is so ignorant, and a terribly heartless response to a death penalty question. I'm sorry, but "in all probability" just doesn't do it for me when I'm thinking about putting an end to someone elses life. At least 100 wrongfully convicted prisoners have been taken off death row. Or maybe that is just the number of prisoners we were able to get to before wrongfully executing them. We should all hope not, because its when that happens that we all become murderers. I wonder how many will stand behind the death penalty then. If our grand jury finds someone guilty, then stick em in a cell for life. We dont live in a perfect country, and we sure dont have a perfect justice system. How many of you would be willing to put your lives into the hands of money thirsty, corrupt lawyers and prosecutors who tamper with evidence to win a case?

It's not an easy thing to contemplate, but at the same time I couldn't live with myself if I was responsible for a monster was allowed to harm other innocent people.

It was a decision that I had to make when I was in college when I was studying criminal justice, aiming toward a job in law enforcement. It's not a decision you should make in the heat of the moment if you've never thought about it.

By the way, God doesn't consider an execution murder. Shoot when the first commandment to Noah (Gen 9:5) was those who spilled human blood needs to be executed it's pretty clear God see's it as important to 'remove the evil from out your midst' as per Leviticus, Deuteronomy, and Numbers.

These people that you are standing up for have done terrible things. If you look at there crimes then talk to the victims families you may take a different point of view. Yes, many people still could not "pull the trigger" as you say, but that doesn't mean it shouldn't be done!

I am against the death penalty so it doesn't matter.

I need to add this though!! If it were a serial killer, like Dahmer or Hennerd, who were psychopaths, I would have no trouble executing them at all! And I would sleep better at night! Those are the only ones who should be executed because they have no conscience and are as much a danger in prison as they are out of prison!!

I have killed people in Vietnam and have watched our own die. Many people had no choice if they wanted to stay alive, and they didn't volunteer!!

If it is your job then you have to do it . When you apply for the job you should know what you have to do. If you are pulled out of a group of people and told to do this thing , then you have to think about it. You might say that David was an executioner when he slew Goliath. It was a one on one battle that God had ordain.. But yes I could if it was my job . I'm just glad that it is not....

some people really do deserve to die for their crimes, but i could not do it, no matter what they did, its just not in me, some people say an eye for an eye, that's well and good but it really wont bring back the person they murdered, besides death is too easy, i think they should be made to suffer like they have done to the familys of the person they have taken from them.

It would not be an easy thing to do, and I don't know for sure that I could do it. But I don't think that the death penalty is murder. I have no pity for the scumbags on death row- I save mine for the victims and their families.

No, I could not. I am also a Christian and believe the death penalty is wrong. I believe it is not in our hands to end another life; they still have time to turn their lives to God.

With NO ties to the crime whatsoever............NO
I believe it would be haunting every moment of life.

As a victim or tied to it possibly. But you also have to think of the ramifications of your choice. Cause and effect. What happens after? How will YOUR decision effect your loved ones?

So there is no easy answer..You reap what you sow!
