I have personal friends both men and women who have an alternate life style. While not my thing, I find them to be often more kind and caring than others. Some straight people bother me and I do not hang around with them, not because they are straight but because I do not want to. The same for those of an alternate lifestyle. There are people who carry anything to an extreme and if it makes you uncomfortable move on. If not hang around, you might learn something. An example, do you like pets, do you mind them being around? One of my most trusted friends is a dog, does that make either of us different. When someone brings up the subject of an alternate lifestyle, usually "sex" and "sexual activity" rears its ugly head. how about if you think it like this, that there are people who prefer close friends/relationships with people of the same gender and not worry about the rest?

Well, yes. I sort of have to like being around gay people, because there's this one that keeps staring back at me every time I look in the mirror, and no matter how much I tell him to go away, he never does. =)

And, for the most part, I think the world is usually a better place with a nice wide variety of people in it, gay people included. Whatever those who hate gays protest to the contrary, I didn't wake up one day and go "you know, I really like p*ssy, but I think I'm going to try sucking d**k for a while and see how that works out for me".

I have the same lack of choice in the matter and am who I was created to be just like all the homophobes cry they naturally were. Sorry, but you weren't given a choice, and neither was I. The only difference is I'm open and honest enough about who I am to figure maybe there was a reason I was made this way and that it would be more productive to just be me than to try to be someone else.

After all, I'm the only one around qualified to do the job.

I know and am friends with several gays. The only thing a gay person could do that would bother me is make a pass at me *after* learning I'm straight.

But that has never happened. I have had gay men make passes when they mistakenly thought I was gay (because I was with a gay mutual friend) but that never happens twice by the same person.

Is the fact that you are breathing at all and able to ask this kind of dumb*** question ok? Think about it? Do you really know what gay looks like? Not everyone is as straight as they seem. Everyone has a right to be here on this earth..in the end, we are all going to be dust anyhow..so learn to live with everyone!!

OK for me to have gays around and I enjoy being with them as long as he is not obscene.

Of course it is. One of my best friends is gay - can't say that he's changed or anything since I found out - he's still the same, great guy I've always known. Besides, considering that one person out of ten is gay, I'm sure that lots of my supposedly straight friends aren't straight at all. Being gay isn't a character trait - it's just one of many labels.

I have no problem being friends with anyone who is gay. Back when I was younger they called me a "fag hag" cause one of my best friends were gay....hey to each thier own....I am a straight woman, but most of my male friends are gay or bi-sexual.....I don't care what they do in the bedroom, that is there business and no one else...

They're great. Intelligent, open-minded people, most of them. Like all people, there's good & bad ones, I've seen a few Jerry Springer Moments, but fewer than in the straight community.

They definitely raise the best kids.

I don't mind having gays around me, they are people too right. And i think that people who have a problem with gays around them are obviously tackling their own sexuality
