I believe he wouldn't like either of them for commercializing the 'art of cinematography' but maybe he would respect Spielberg more for serious and deep understanding of intricate mechanism of human personality; and for sense of the epoch.
I think Sergei Eisenstein liked to be the 'voice of time', and so does Spielberg.
Although it's just my guess.

not a chance. Eisenstein was a visionary but less of a story teller than Spielberg or Lucas. I think he would probably be making progressions and exploring the limits of cinema and the audiovisual medium, but as far as telling a good story and using the camera and sound to really exploit the story to the full extent, he would fall short. I think he would be more in the category of a Godard or a Aronofsky. Exploring but not exploiting. And I use exploiting in a positive way.

Steven Spielberg.

George Lucas is a great storyteller but Spielberg is a better filmmaker. He really understands cinema.
