Can i scan it longways, then position it the right way later? if yes how please?

Scan it lengthways, then rotate the image once its on your pc. Windows default program for opening picturers (could be called Windows Fax and Photo viewer) has a little icon on the bottom that shows a clockwise and anti-clockwise rotation, just click that.
If its too big to fit that way then you may have to look at scanning it in 2 parts and attempting to use photoshop or the like to "join" the image together again. Other then that get access to a photocopier with a built in scanner and copy the image that way and save the output. Most shops that offer printing services offer this service as well.

Scan it in two halves and put it together in whatever software you have, Photoshop ideally.
