Yes I did do it before with him. But I tried to make a 'deal' with him to stick to as I wanted to be friends as I liked our conversations. He agreed but he broke the deal anyway.

Since he's a good friend and you like talking to him, here's what you can do --- when he calls, just enjoy the normal conversation and if/when he tries to steer the communication towards phone sex, have a prepared list of excuses to get off the phone with him.

These excuse can include the following, "I have to go right now because":

1) some company just arrived.
2) you have to go somewhere.
3) the food that you were cooking is ready to eat.
4) some type of chore has to be done
5) There's some program on TV that you really want to see.

Then say a quick goodbye and "we'll talk later" and hang up the phone. This way you'll remain friends but you will have a good way of avoiding the phone sex.
