JK Rowling is a writer. She owns the characters. It's her responsibility to do what SHE feels is right for them, not what any of the fans feel is right for them. No-one has the right to hate her or curse her for that - get over yourselves people.

But the reason she is thinking of doing it is because she does not want anyone to write continuations of the stories. Of course, all one would have to do is bring Harry back to life, so it really doesn't solve a whole lot besides pissing off a lot of readers.
