some songs have virus's but you can find out by scanning each one first.... and it isn't legal to download any music without paying for it.

Yes, some files contain viruses and some do not. You just have to use common sense to know which one's do. If it's a song or video, you can usually click on it and preview it before it's done and if it doesn't work then stop the download and don't try that source again. And LimeWire is legal because they offer a free version and you can upgrade that version to get more sources for a price.

Limewire itself contains no virus, BUT!!!!!!! it does come bundled with SPYWARE which will constantly bother you with pop-ups and allow other spyware to download without your consent. I have seen computers with SERIOUS problems, and removing Limewire and all the spyware that gets downloaded because of it solves most problems.

The music files you download are from other users and some of them are either unaware they have a virus and pass it on to you, or are just nasty people that if they hate a song may add a virus to it so when someone downloads it, that song with the virus attached destroys the receivers computer.

And Yes 99.999999999% of the music downloaded is copyrighted and illegal to download without paying a copyright fee. (Very, VERY, old copyright expired music is OK)

Downloading copyrighted mp3's from Limewire or any other P2P program is illegal. You run the risk of being prosecuted.

Mp3 files rarely contain a virus on Limewire, but indeed, it is possible. A good solution: buy a Mac. :D
