BRAVEHEART by a mile.
This movie had everything. There wasn't one single instance of bad acting. The director was phenomenal (Mel Gibson) as was the main star (Mel Gibson). All the characters were thoroughly thought out and believable, and you were completely drawn into the essence of this film. This kind of question is always relative to the answerer, but of all movies made in the last 40 years I can't think of any one that comes even close to this masterpiece.
