I didn't know you needed one. It is not motorized. Is there such a thing? Although, I do have my paddling license. Either oar, it is a tough question.

If you mean a pleasure sailboat "license", there really isn't such a program. There are different levels of certification by the American Sailing Association (ASA) which are recognized by the charter companies worldwide. http://www.american-sailing.com/
Their site is currently under construction until July 3.

Many charter companies will accept a resume of sailing experience to asses your competence to operate a sailing vessel. As you pursue the sport, be sure to document you experiences.

There is no such thing as a sailing license. You can get a USCG Captain's License, and then a Sailing Endorsement, but after that, just go for it.
