For modern day supercomputers, you basically take the components for hundreds/thousands of personal computers and build them into special rack-mounted blades (motherboards) and hook up all of the blades in a fast network.
Then you use special parallel processing software that allows all of the processors to work on different pieces of the same problem.
In the old days, supercomputers were built from specialized power-hungry circuits. That is no longer true.

You need to know what is the top of the line PROCESSOR, HARD DRIVE, MEMORY RAM, MOTHERBOARD and VIDEO CARD.
All that group together is the best of the best computer.
