She bought 10 pounds of bananas and 5 pounds of apples.

.39 x 10 = $3.90

total = $7.85

let the number of apples x and the cost = 79 cents
so the number of banana = 2x cost = 39
so the total he pay 7.85
then
x*rate of apples + 2x*rate of banana = 7.85 total rate
x0.79x + 2x(0.39) = 7.85
.79x + .78x = 7.85
1.57x = 7.85
x = 5

so the number of apple be 5 and bananas are twice of apple the it 10 ans

She bought 10 lbs of bananas.
39 cents doubles is 78 cents
soooo. just cut you total cost in half and then divide by 39 cents.
