I just got bad news about someone I knew from this site, and I swear my heart is breaking.

It IS amazing how you can become attached to people online. It is just as amazing how some people can drop you just as quickly.
I have found that it is not wise to have romantic attachments to people online, because they are never quite what they seem when you do actually meet them. It may not be because they have misrepresented themselves. It may be because we have built up an ideal of them & are dissappointed when they cannot live up to it. Other times it is because they think that since you have written so much on line, once you meet they want to move too fast. Or sometimes they cannot handle long-distance relationships after they get into them. Whatever the reason it is a terrible idea.
Stay only friends if possible.

Well when i heard i cried my damn eyes out and i am not ashamed to say that. Poison Ivy was a wonderful human being and she will be sadly missed. I am going to be travelling from Scotland to Montana (4,200 miles) to meet a woman i met and fell in love with on here. I have only known her for 4 months but we are so close and we know all there is to know about each other so i certainly can say that i am qualified to say that you can very much become attached online.

Yes, I myself would attest to that. I never imagined myself being emotionally attached to someone on cyber either romantically or as friends but it really happened to me. I've met several friends online and i feel really happy that we still continue to keep in touch either by chat or phone.
I can even remember someone who got mad at me for something i really didnt do. I was misunderstood and that person thought i did it intentionally. It really bothered me and made me cry. It was a really sad moment for me. I cant believe i cried over someone i just met online. It happened almost a year now and up to now, whenever i think about it, it still makes me sad. Just like now. : (

I find it completely amazing how we can become emotionally attached to people, especially over the internet. It broke my heart as well to hear that such a wonderful person has passed. She was a great person and is missed.

If you talk often enough, you do get to know the person rather well. It's perfectly normal then to feel an emotional attachment.

It happens to be so very easy to meet and make friends inhere. We are all similar in that we like to be online. And then we seem to get to know each other in an easy way. Laughter is shared more then anything. Humor creates bonds.

yes the emotions one feels for someone on line is amazing yes,,,scary at first... how these emotions fit for someone u never met in person but yet feel very emotional about yes one of those sweet mystery's the unknown is fun to study yes ty

Yes .I have known a person from three years ,He is my best friend i say .
He has always been there for me and i too .He is always in my prayers and through thick and thin he has always strengthened me .And i know in one part of the world , i have a person who wishes well for me !
We belong to different countries , different languages , different religions etc etc but our wavelength matches ,even there is political tension b/w our countries India and Pakistan.
But i think , our relationship is beyond barriers..
I wonder how sometimes God sends angels for us ..I am thankful to God for my soul friend.Yes , i can understand it is terrible news for you ,as you were a friend to tha person ,May your heart finds solace !
