Runaway Traiin-1985
Manny is the "boss" of the convicts in an Alaskan high security prison. Renken, the heartless prison's administrator wants to kill him, so Manny escapes with the help of another young prisoner, Buck, who follows him. The two fugitives manage to get to a rail depot and get onboard a train. The problem is, the engineer has died and the the train is totally out of control, and nothing can stop it. So, leaving the prison, Manny and Buck find themselves aboard something that is both their freedom and their death...
A sterling performance from an almost unrecognizeable Jon Voight....with Eric Roberts as good as he has ever been.

As a former Correctional officer for 16 years, I like prison movies (don't ask me why, I shouldn't) and collect them to and I like them all but my favorite is "Brubaker"
Brubaker
It is based on a true story.
As a former Correctional Officer I found this movie amazing.
With the knowledge of the prison environment the things going on in this movie were amazing!
------- ------- ------- -------------- -------------- -------------- -------
Brubaker is a 1980 film about a prison. Robert Redford plays the eponymous lead role.
Spoiler warning: Plot and/or ending details follow.
This film about a prison warden who starts his job by disguising himself as one of his own prison inmates to find out what the prison is really like. He finds rampant abuse and corruption, so when the disguise comes off, he does what he must to make things right.
The film also stars Yaphet Kotto and Jane Alexander, with a fairly early appearance of Morgan Freeman.

When the new Warden comes in disguised as an inmate, he sees first hand all the corruption and scams the guards and prison officials and running. When he reveals himself, and starts to implement reforms to stop the corruption, the local community business, who had been benefiting from the scams, fights back, and the corrupt southern prison system, starts making political trouble for the new warden.

Henry Brubaker is the new warden at Wakefield prison. He makes his entrance as a prisoner in order to get a convict's-eye-view of the real state of the institution. To his horror he finds all manner of abuse and corruption which, after disclosing his real identity, he sets out to correct.
Based on the real-life efforts of former prison administrator Thomas O. Murton to reform Tucker and Cummins Prison Farms in Arkansas in 1967-68. Murton served as a technical advisor for the film.
