Use your PC's network setup wizard and buy cat5e cables... but then again I am not very sure... somebody will hopefully give you a better, more detailed, and accurate answer. Good luck on this daunting task.

ok things you'll need
- 1 cross-over/reverse cat5 ethernet cable (because we wont be using a hub/switch)
- an IP address for each computer (to keep it simple use 10.0.0.1 and 10.0.0.2)

now on each computer go to the network connections window load the properties of the LAN interface you connected the cable to.

Click on 'Internet Protocal (TCP/IP)' and the click Properties.

Select 'use the following ip address' and enter the following
ip address: 10.0.0.1
subnet mask: 255.0.0.0

for the other pc use the ip 10.0.0.2

(ignore the gateway and DNS for a basic connection. they are for basically for internet access/sharing)

Click OK all the way and thats it you should be connected. just enable sharing on any folders and/or printers required.

Get cat5e cable and crimp it as Cross-over. Then go to your computer right click - properties- computer name- network Id and use Network Identification wizard to setup a network btween the 2 computers. Each Computer must have a unique name and must be in the same domain for them to be able to communicate.
