Trojan Horse is not a virus its a malicious program disguised as a application usually tricking u to installing them. Then this program provides backdoor access to ur system(computer). But there are no or little Trojan Horse these days. There are a number of other computer threats spyware, adaware, worms, viruses.

You might be a victim of Adaware warning you of a virus or things and wants you to buy or click some site to address it.

If it is indeed a virus, worm, and the likes. I hate to bring you bad tiddings. Its not easy to get rid of them buying an anti-virus, and firewall won't just do. Since the virus has infected your system chances are it have compromised the existing software security you have. Installing an anti-virus now, chances are the will compromised them and stop them from detecting them. Visiting online scanning site won't help since there are a number of viruses the spoof a web page to trick you into believing that you are on Norton Site, Panda Site, ... etc.

To scan you need to boot to a clean disk and scan there. If you have a clean hard disk with OS install the anti-virus there. And the infected hard disk connected as slave. The uninfected hard disk should be the one to boot.

To remove sometimes its easy as the antivirus software cleans it for you. But most of the times its not easy. Once you have scanned your system and noted the viruses or worms that infected you, get their names. Visit the site site like Norton, McAffe, Trend, Panda and look on their site the steps on how to manually get rid of them. This usually include editing the windows registry, deleting some files, ... etc.

If you can afford reformat or repartion that's the easiest way. However we have our data that we will loose. Or just go to a computer technician.

Good luck
