because of the Oedipus complex said Freud. they experience their father as a competitor in relation to their mother or for their mother's attention
well, in my opinion fathers want their sons to be exactly the same as themselves but of course they are not and voila! here we have a problem, because children tend to be completely different from their parents and the great expectations are usually followed by disappointment. parents rant that children didn't turn out the way they wanted them. it's normal i guess.
it's the same problem with mothers and daughters

My Dear Friend , It because ego of dad and son compete and
so create frictions But in relationship between father and daughter , there is nothing else except love , love and love .
You will also notice that there is never ego problem or
generation gap problem between grand parents and grand children because of sheer love, love and love .
