1) divide both sides by 5 to get q= (2/5) times (1/5) which equals 2/25 = .08
i.e. q=.08

2) change 4 and 1/2 to improper fraction: 9/2
then multiply both sides by the reciprocal of 3/7, which is 7/3
this gives you 9/2 times 7/3, which means x= 63/6 =10.5

3) subtract 4 from both sides to get -8x=32,
divide both sides by -8 to get x= -4

4) subtract 3 from both sides to get -2x= 15,
divide both sides by -2 to get x= -15/2,
or x= -7.5

5) subtract 1 from both sides to get 2/3y= 26,
divide both sides by 2/3 or alterntively multiply both sides by the reciprocal of 2/3, which is 3/2....to get y=78/2,
or y=39

1.)
5q = (2/5)
q = (2/5)/5
q = (2/5)/(5/1)
q = (2/5)*(1/5)
q = (2/25)

---------------------------

2.)
(3/7)x = (4 + (1/2))
(3/7)x = (9/2)
(3x)/7 = (9/2)
6x = 63
x = (63/6)
x = (21/2)
x = 10 and 1/2

-----------------------------------

3.)
4 - 8x = 36
-8x = 32
x = -4

------------------------

4.)
3 - 2x = 18
-2x = 15
x = (-15/2) or -7 and 1/2

--------------------------------------

5.)
1 + (2/3)y = 27
(2/3)y = 26
(2y)/3 = 26
2y = 78
y = 39

1.
5q=2/5
hence q=(2/5)5=2x1=2
2.
3/7x=4
hence x=4(7/3)=28/3
3/7x=1/2
x=(1/2)(7/3)=7/6
3.
4-8x=36
4-36=8x
8x=-32
x=-4
4.
3-2x=18
3-18=2x
-15=2x
x=-15/2
5.
1+(2/3)y=27
(2/3)y=26
y=(3/2)26=39
