I think you are solving one of those exercises after the section on Cardon's method.
Cardon's method applies to cubic equations without a second degree term.
So what you can do is:
1. Replace y by 1/x. By doing so, you will get a cubic in x which doesnt have a second degree term(congrats!!).
2. Now solve for x using Cardon's method.
3. Substitute x = 1/y.
