Al Gore was the key politician in the Senate that made the push for the Internet to become the free and open information highway that it is today instead of a private entity. He was instrumental in writing and getting passed several pieces of legislation to put into effect what you know as "the internet". Did he invent the technology? No. Did he have a major part in making it the concept that it is today? Absolutely.

His relationship with Tipper is a goofy one though, while he was way ahead of his time on the technology curve, his wife was instrumental in setting back censorship laws almost 100 years. Maybe opposites do attract.

For consideration, say a new bridge needed to be built in your town. You could say the Mayor is responsible for it, but he didn't weld the steel, draw the blueprints, or pay for it from his own pocket. He saw the necessity for it though, provided the leadership, and drew up the policy that brought those things together to build that bridge.

Thank you Al.

Al Gore NEVER said he "invented the internet". Never. Not once.

The fact that some people still like to trot out this little misquotation, just shows that true genius takes constant tending, but stupidity has a life of its own.

If you can't criticize the guy without resurrecting (or believing) long debunked, and entirely irrelevant misinformation, then you are admitting you got nothin'.

Al Gore was in the US Senate when the military
created internet design was being offered to the public and he called it the "Information Superhighway" years before anyone out here knew anything about Netscape or anything earlier.

Al Gore is a stiff, always trying to stiff us. But I've got his number. I'm not easily fooled by him or Michael Moore.

Not only did he not invent the Internet, he also never claimed to have done so.

Check out the source - there are a lot of articles on it!

No. He is not a smart man. Because if he was there would be no warning labels on CDs. Tipper Gore pushed that through her husband.

No. Even though he did actually make a similar claim.
( I actually heard the recording of him making the supposed 'internet invention' claim. )

He's a little wacky sometimes.
