How do you tell someone that you don't want to go to the movies with them? We had planned to see another movie but she decided she didn't want to see it anymore. I can't say that I don't have a ride or money. And I've already told her I really don't want to see that movie.

white' lie'

defined as

a minor, polite, or harmless lie; fib.

make up a white lie something tragic like.."my favorite cousin died
I can't talk about it"

OK so this is a major white lie, but it's better than hurting her feelings and telling her the truth. It defuses the situation

Tell her you don't to see that movie, maybe you can find another movie that you both want to see otherwise leave it as that.
