Mt.Everset is said to be the youngest mountain because it was formed in recent years.
During the early ages the Indian subcontinent was attached with Australia.Later India broke from Austalia and moved towards the Asian plate. When the Indian plate joined with the Asian plate folding occured.Due to this folding the long stretch of the Himalayan ranges was formed.Even now the Indian plate is moving towards the Asian plate-this is the reason why still Himalayas grows(nearly 1cm a year ) .
Before early days there was a sea known as"Tethys sea" between the Indian and Asian plates-recently there were fossils of large fishes were found in the Himalayas.
The geologists say that in nearly 4500 years Kanyakumari(Cape comorin-bottom tip of India)will be afoothill region.

the earth is made out of magma. on the magma there are huge pieces of land (called tectonic plates) floating and that is where we are. when two tectonic plates float in opposite directions, they push each other very hard and so the land lifts, forming mountains. the everest is at the intersection of the eurasia and pacific plates and they are still moving against each other, lifting the land.

It is Because Mount Everest came into existence when euroasian and indian plates merged.Thats why this area is prone to earthquakes ie India,Pakistan,Bangladesh , Srilanka etc .
Scientists have measured it height is somewhat decreased , because it is melting .
