ok here is something my soccer coach told me......soccer is a gentlemans sport played by brutes and rugby is a brutes sport played by gentlemen

footballers and the supporters tend to be a bit common compared to rugby players and supporters. Also, rugby players are a lot harder than football players and don't require a stretcher to carry them off the pitch when they fall over. This would also suggest that rugby players are more honest.

its not just the players its the fans to rugby fans of opposing teams will drink together after a game soccer fans usually fight [especially in England]
though after watching a couple of soccer world cup games soccer players are far better actors

I love him to bits and the last comment is true except in the case of an Irish captain that acts like a footballer and dives and cries every time someone lais a finger on him then goes off and stamps and punches on the sly. spear tackle?? dnt think so!!

My dad says "hooligans" not "brutes".

And of course, American football is a hooligan's sport played by hooligans.

I've heard that too. However, if you'd seen the state of my husband after his rugby team tour a few years ago, you might allow me to beg to differ.

My dad says that alot!
Think it definatly counts for professional! You don't get as many brawls or unsportmanshipness (that really sin't a word is it?!?!) in my opinion though obviously rugby players tend to get more injured!
