Isn't the universe contracting? Maybe everything we see moving away from us is being sucked into singularity?

Everything started off with The Big Bang. As there is the Big Bang Theory, there is also the big crunch theory if im not wrong. During the Big Bang, the universe is formed and it is expanding. But scientific discovery have showed that the Universe is expanding at a decreasing speed. It will come to a point of time where the Universe will stop expanding and due to the internal gravitational force, the Universe will also start contracting but at a slow rate. It will be really contract really slow at first but the rate of contracing will speed up. Think it as a exponential curve. Yup... Then everything will be suck back to the point of sigularity again and when energy in it becomes unstable it will explode again thus forming the new Universe. But anyway we wouldnt be ard to witness this by then. Not even a million lifetime. HAhahah... So dun worry!

What we see is an expanding universe. But, the light from the farthest reaches of the universe took 15 billion years to get here. So, the universe may have stopped expanding and started contracting, but it will be a while before we can see it happening, assuming we live several billion more years.

in accordance to measurements the universe is increasing. a minimum of on the instantaneous. i imagine no one can teach it really is contracting because it isn't real. the in person-friendly words question is even if this boom is for ever or sometime that is going to end and the universe will settlement and fall back into the initial condensed remember - the so observed as large shrink. The are huge discussions in academy even if there is adequate remember to end the universe boom. as far as i comprehend, there is not any very last end

Current theories differ. There seems not to be a consensus among theorists. Having said that, there is a theory stating that the universe as we are observing it will eventually stop expanding, and start contracting that will eventually collapse on itself into "NOTHINGNESS" in what is best called, THE BIG CRUNCH. Moreover, all this from the big bang to the big crunch is nothing but one cycle in the whole existence. Much like a breath. You inhale to a maximum, at which point your long is in its utmost size, stop, and exhale to a minimum. Then the whole cycle repeats itself again, and again, and again.
How can we know that?
Ask.
There is a way!

The universe currently is expanding. After a while it will contract and make a Big Crunch. This will happen for the 24th or 25th time.

in theory depending on who you listen to the universe is indead expanding and they say will contract well should be contracting but its not. There are big bangs occuring and black holes from exploding stars occuring all the time in space which just makes things expand and retract here and there its chaos at its best

rite now the universe is expanding(acc. to big-bang theory) but after a long time the universe may start contracting again

No,it is currently expanding. This is know due to the red/blue doppler shift taking place at the known edge of our universe. They think that at the center of each spiral galaxy an enormous black hole/sigularity causes the entire galaxy to rotate, pulling every bit of matter towards this sigularity...tom science
