Is this a networking possibility?

Im looking to purchase a laptop thats WiFi enabled, but have a PC that isnt WiFi enabled (and I dont care if it ever is). How do I go about networking these two together, and also making the laptop wireless (for home internet use, access the PC, etc.)? Is this even possible or do I have to make the PC wireless as well (and use a wireless router)? Both are WinXP...

the PC can be connected via ethernet to the wireless router

use a cat 5 crossover cable and plug it into your network connections on the laptop and on the PC
