She is 33 and never had hers done, because she is scared; At the same time, she regrets that our parents did not do it when we were young. Now, she has a mix feeling; She would like to have her 2 years old pierced (she is debating on that since she got pregnant...) so her girl does not have to face the same dilemna, but at the same time, she feels guilty to impose on her baby something she does not dare to have herself. Who can help?

i wouldn't do it if i felt guilty. i do not think there will be any dilemma in the future though. think about it... the way people are piercing every part of there body now... she will go to her mother when all of her friends have earrings. the peer pressure to conform will probably get her to ask mom for earrings soon enough. then mom will have no dilemma to worry about, and no guilt to feel bad for.

My mom had my sisters done at two...my sis has had infections & also she is only 27 now but her ear holes are stretched. Ears & nose grow well into old age. If a child has something pierced now there's no telling how large the hole will be later or in what place it will be. Since she could have one ear larger then the other or slightly off. It's just a bad idea all around...plus it looks a little tacky. I have a one year old girl & would never...it's her choice. I would not give her a tattoo right? Same difference.

i suggest she go ahead and pierce her daughters ears. in the indian culture we normally pierce girls ears at a very young age of 2 or 3. so its nothign to do wit torturing or anything of that sort.

sooner or later she's gonna want a pierced ear, y not do it now when the skin's still tender n there's less pain? =)

No, wait until she is about 13 when she can make the choice herself. If it will be such a hard thing to do then then she will not want it bad enough to have it. It's not that painfull. I had mine done when I was 18.

It is very quick and will be over before you know it. She will cry for a bit but will forget it within 10 minutes. Do it before she gets to much older

I am glad she does not want to inflict pain on the baby. No one has to be pierced/defiled, especially when it is not even their choice.
