Who else thinks Harry Potter is going to die?

Question

In an earlier book, Dumbledore mentioned something about Voldemort not being able to die without Harry dying either (I don't remember which one and where). The point is, I think it would make sense for Rowling to kill Harry and Voldemort together - it would be a valiant sacrifice on Harry's part. Any comments? Who do you think will die?

Also, any comments that Dumbledore might come back - I think he did one of those crucifix things like Voldemort did too. Remember how he was getting weaker and weaker toward the end? How unlike him...

Yes Dumbledore did say something like them both having to die - it was in the prophecy at the Order of the Phoenix or something.

"The one with the power to vanquish the Dark Lord approaches...born to those who have thrice defied him, born as the seventh month dies...and the Dark Lord will mark him as his equal, but he will have power the Dark Lord knows not...and either must die at the hand of the other for neither can live while the other survives...the one with the power to vanquish the Dark Lord will be born as the seventh month dies..."

Read it carefully.

"either must die at the hand of the other for neither can live while the other survives"

it means one will be murdered by the other.

I think you're speaking of the end of the prophecy - the "neither can live while the other survives." I don't really understand it, because technically they're doing exactly that right now - they're both alive at the same time, which according to this part of the prophecy, is impossible. I think it just means one of them is goign to have to kill the other - they don't both necessarily have to die. I've heard that we'll find out more about why ghosts stay behind in this world instead of moving on (I'm pretty sure this is a confirmed fact, but not totally), so maybe Harry will die and become a ghost. Hmmm... We've just gotta wait and see.

That wasn't in the book. If Harry is a horcrux he will die. But I think that will ruin the story. And its impact as a series.

Id hope more so that Harry ends up not being the chosen hero who is instead Neville. And Harry gets his peace and quiet at last. He'll still be important and talented but the focus will be elsewhere.

I really don't know if Harry is going to die or not. Oh wait... Actually, I just don't want to think about it that's why I don't know. I couldn't imagine him dying. I know this sucks but I want a happy ending for Harry where he defeats Voldemort and lives on his life without any more worries. *sigh*

i personly haven't read the books, but have seen the movies and it makes great sence for harry potter to die. voldemort can't even to touch harry because of the blood that runs through him. i do believe if you kill one you kill both. excellent point!

there must be way that Harry could escape death without bringing Lord Voldemort with him... I'm sure Kathleen wont kill her beloved character. But that's also a cool idea.

I dont know who will die but i think he might because you just cant leave the readers hanging and not know what happens during the rest of his life although she could say something like: He married, had kids, and died happily two years after his wife. You know something to tell what happened to him.

One can not live, while the other survives. Somethin' like that. I have a feeling they are going to both die in the final fight, though. :(
