I was wondering if the security suite with antivirus and antispy was attached to my account or whether the next user of my computer who will not use sbcglobal or ATAT will still be able to get updates for the antivirus and antispy.URGENT. I am selling in 3hrs.

I have already reformated the Hard Drive. I just installed the antivirus so they could have some protection out of the box.

Also I only installed AntiVirus, Antispy, and Messenger. I don't know if this means that my DSL password is still stored in the Antivirus program. Does it?

If the security suite is part of the DSL software then if you remove the software which is recommended if you are selling it will also be removed.
If you do not remove the software then the stored ID for the account should allow for updates from any Internet connection.
But if someone connects a DSL modem and gets online you could receive additional billing for the extra access.

Hope this helps.

They will need your AT@T User Name and Password eventually if not immediately.

If you have a dynamic IP, you have to sign in with the PPoE each time you log on. If static, they have your IP address.

Assuming that the computer can somehow download the update, eventually they'll need to login to download upgrades. The only way that is possible is if you give them your userID and Password.

I think if you check your Customer Agreement, you'll find that you're not allowed to share your UserID & Password. If you do, AT@T will be within their rights to close the account (your account). Seems like a bad idea to give your acct # & ID to someone you're selling the computer to - who are they going to come looking for when the child porn is downloaded?

To answer your question, the updates are attached to your account. The buyer could, however, continue to use the antivirus feature as long as no further updates were made, which isn't a bad thing - it just won't have the latest virus definitions.

The program won't be worth a plug nickle. The AV program engine is kept on the server and the program is wothless without the engine. The Anti-Spy program is the same one that is in the toolbar. So he can get the Yahoo toolbar and have the AS.

If you want them to have protection out of the box. Download AVG Anti virus, Zone Alarm firewall, and Spybot Search and Destroy. All free. If you reinstalled the anti virus, then no I doubt your password is stored, unless you logged in since. If you're paranoid about it then, delete the program, defragment the drive, and install AVG.

if they use your email account they can but i would take the harddrive out before you sell the comp cause if you dont use a wipe program they could possibly get all the information you ever had on the comp even after you erase the hard drive
