I recently quit my job because my boss wont pay me properly and I mean I am way underpaid. He has a high turnover of staff because of this reason, why not just pay properly and keep good staff instead of having to train someone new all the time. His business is good so he has the money to pay properly but refuses. Is this an asian trait, am I stupid for quitting my job. I am not trying to offend anyone just curious if this is the way their culture is.

I don't blame you for quitting your job though, but it would have been more sensible to find a new job first ... it's usually easier to acquire a job if you already have one. Just one of those irritatingly sadistic facts of life...!

no, not all asians are tight w/money. sometimes, it's ingrained as part of the culture, i will admit. it is because in asia, u have to get used to huge catastrophes (e.g., hurricanes, floods, etc)...so asians learn to scrimp and be frugal because u never know when a catastrophe will hit. thus, they will often buy in bulk too (for preparation of some sort of natural disaster). just keep in mind, as i mentioned before, NOT all asians are cheap...

well, thats capitalism for you, the more you pay out the less money you have. i'm sure it can be proven either way that it costs more to train new people or that it costs less to retain the same people, just depends on the pay scale and training costs and such...but according to you he is doing well, so it must be working.

well to tell u the turth some old asian people value money way to much..i would kno my dad is always tellin me to save ma money..i mean ok so i have 2 jobs so i went shopping and he was like apni money save kia karo...lol sorry about ur job.....y dont u try and talk to him and how u have to pay for ur stuff too.

is this your first job?... just so you don't feel left alone... it happens in every company... at least the ones i've worked for... if you can't speak for yourself well... then better settle for what the company/your boss offers you... if you think you deserve more... then i'm glad you quit... never settle for anything less.. but ofcourse ... continue to work hard and you will get there!
